Foothills Building Group has signed a multiyear contract with the Hornets to “put the company’s logo on the apparel players wear during pregame and halftime warmup sessions and on the bench during games,” according to Erik Spanberg of the CHARLOTTE BUSINESS JOURNAL. Foothills Building President Bradley McMurray said that talks “began as a result of his friendship” with newly hired Univ. of South Carolina baseball coach Kevin Schnall, who is cousin to Hornets co-owner Rick Schnall. The Hornets deal -- the company’s first sports sponsorship -- begins this week, with Foothills Building’s logo appearing “on the team’s shooting shirts and warmup jackets” as part of the NBA Summer League season that runs from July 9-July 19. Foothills Building is “also the presenting sponsor” of the Hornets’ Summer League team. McMurray said that the company “hopes to make inroads in the Charlotte area” as a Hornets’ sponsor. He added that his company and the Hornets also “plan extensive collaborations on philanthropic and community outreach” (CHARLOTTE BUSINESS JOURNAL, 7/7).
