The Cactus League's average game attendance was 7,900 in '19 -- up from 7,523 in '17 and 7,683 in '18 -- though total attendance "dropped from 1.77 million to 1.74 million this year because there were fewer games," according to Jen Fifield of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. There were six rainouts, which "aren't made up" in Spring Training. The season started "fairly early," on Feb. 21, and the first few weeks "were unusually cold compared to the start of other seasons." Cactus League President Jeff Meyer said the "numbers show that Arizona's spring training attendance 'remains robust.'" The Cubs "attracted the five largest crowds in Cactus League history this season," and also "broke a Cactus League per-game attendance record" during a March 25 game against the Red Sox, with 16,100 fans on hand. About half of the teams "saw their per-game attendance go up, and four teams, set single-game attendance records" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 3/29).
