June 26, 2003 -- LeBron James is drafted No. 1 overall by the Cavaliers. James was picked by his hometown team, coming out of St. Vincent High School in Akron. The 2003 draft is known for having one of the deepest talent pools in NBA history. It contained 15 players who would combine for 26 championships. Those included in the 2003 draft class were Carmelo Anthony (No. 3), Chris Bosh (4) and Dwyane Wade (5).
