Former MGM Resorts Int'l CEO Jim Murren expects Las Vegas will get an NBA franchise "within the next few years," according to Bryan Horwath of the LAS VEGAS SUN. Speaking yesterday at an online Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance event, Murren said the area's relationship with the NBA, through hosting Summer League games and the WNBA Las Vegas Aces, "help make it an attractive option." Murren, who now is heading the state of Nevada's COVID-19 Response, Relief and Recovery Task Force, said, "The NBA loves Las Vegas. I expect an NBA team over the next few years." He added, "The (WNBA) has done well (in Las Vegas). I wouldn't be surprised to also see more efforts around bringing a Major League Soccer team here. I think baseball is a ways away" (LAS VEGAS SUN, 7/29).
