Monumental Sports & Entertainment and KultureCity Plan to Make Capital One Arena Accessible to Fans With Sensory Sensitivities

Monumental Sports & Entertainment has partnered with KultureCity to better accommodate fans with sensory sensitivities at Capital One Arena. The venue is home to the Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals and Washington Mystics.

KultureCity is a non-profit that works with organizations to adapt spaces for individuals prone to sensory overload, such as those with autism, dementia or PTSD. Capital One Arena will now offer guests Puro Sound Labs’ noise cancelling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards and weighted lap pads. A dedicated “quiet room” has also been established inside the venue for fans who may feel overwhelmed during events.

NBA Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins is a brand ambassador for KultureCity. Other NBA teams such as the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers have also partnered with the company to retrofit their home venues to improve accessibility..

Capital One Arena recently completed renovations that included a new 7,000-square-foot scoreboard as well as new LED video boards and LED lighting installed throughout the venue. Capital One Arena will also open a new sportsbook consisting of a two-floor bar and restaurant next year.
