World Rugby’s Brett Gosper Hired to Lead NFL Europe, U.K.

World Rugby CEO Brett Gosper is leaving the organization to become head of the NFL in Europe and the U.K, a new position created by the league. He will be tasked with growing the NFL’s popularity across Europe.

Since 2012, Gosper has worked at World Rugby, the governing body that organizes the Rugby World Cup. He is expected to join the NFL in early 2021 and work out of the league’s London office. Gosper will be responsible for bringing an NFL game to Germany, according to Sports Business Daily .

The NFL has played 28 regular season games in London since 2007. However, this season’s international games in London and Mexico City were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. In September, the NFL signed a five-year deal to launch a Sky Sports NFL TV channel in the U.K. and Ireland.
