Panini releases cards despite losing NFLPA license

Panini launched its first 2023 NFL trading card product today despite "losing their license" with the NFLPA earlier this week. Attorneys representing Panini filed a demand for arbitration "late on Tuesday," calling the termination of the deal "improper and ineffective." If arbitration is permitted, an independent arbiter "will decide if the NFLPA is able to unilaterally cancel its licensing deal with Panini." The "only way the NFLPA could immediately terminate the deal with no selloff period is if there was a material breach of contract" (ACTION NETWORK, 8/23).
