The Steelers are partnering with Irish airline Aer Lingus to “promote a game in Ireland” next season, when the team hosts the NFL’s first regular-season trip to the Emerald Isle, according to Adam Babetski of the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE. Steelers VP/Sales and Marketing Ryan Huzjak noted that commercial flights are “not included in the partnership.” The team and Aer Lingus plan to “host a pregame tailgate event and visits from youth football clinics” in the lead-up to the game. Babetski noted longer term, Aer Lingus will serve as an official Steelers airline partner and “will cosponsor” the team’s Ireland Youth Football Development program. Aer Lingus also will work with the Steelers “on ‘creative branding’ for advertisements.” Pittsburgh International Airport has “been in contact” with Aer Lingus “for several years” (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 2/20).
