Bills and Sabres COO PETE GUELLI said that he is the “best kind of crazy busy” after marking his one-year anniversary with both franchises yesterday, according to Ryan O’Halloran of the BUFFALO NEWS. Guelli said, “I don’t know if you can have as much fun working as many hours as I’ve had to.” He added, “It’s incredibly rewarding.” Guelli was hired in March 2024 after working for the Bills, Hornets and the N.Y. Giants and for owners RALPH WILSON JR., MICHAEL JORDAN and JOHN MARA and STEVE TISCH. Guelli said Bills/Sabres owner TERRY PEGULA is “not a micromanager” and he’s “not looking to tell you what to do, but we make incredibly important and impact decisions every day that Terry needs to have line of sight into. From that standpoint, it’s been the perfect balance.” Guelli’s second-floor office window “provides a daily view” of the construction progress of the new Highmark Stadium across the street from the current venue. With the Sabres, Guelli is “continuing the search for a lead commercial officer” and has “led efforts to improve the KeyBank Center fan experience.” He estimated that his time is “split ‘close to 50-50’ between the clubs.” His “biggest adjustment” has been running the business side for the two teams. Guelli: “The biggest thing when you’re balancing multiple properties is prioritizing your time. … You have to be disciplined to make sure you’re focused on the right things and nothing slips” (BUFFALO NEWS, 4/16).
