NBC to highlight '72 Dolphins during 'SNF'

During tonight's "Sunday Night Football" matchup between the Dolphins and Steelers, NBC coordinating producer Rob Hyland plans to “allocate some air time to discussion of the 1972 Dolphins,” who will be "honored at halftime" for the 50th anniversary of their 17-0 championship season. NBC will take the "highly unusual step of airing the pregame coin toss," featuring Pro Football HOFers Larry Csonka, Larry Little, Paul Warfield, and  Bob Griese. Throughout the game, NBC’s Mike Tirico will "mention the ’72 team, leading into short video clips.” NBC “won’t carry the halftime presentation live," but will "weave in a highlight or two during the second half” (MIAMI HERALD, 10/21).
