CFL hosts Grey Cup amid concerning trends

The CFL Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Toronto Argonauts will face off in the 109th Grey Cup at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan, today at 6 pm ET, and though there are "actually some small signs of optimism for the league," the trends are "still not good.” Attendance “isn’t close to what it was a decade ago, television numbers seem to be wavering" and there "aren’t nearly the same number of well-known stars across the nine-team league as there once were.” The CFL is "steady ... at least for now.” The Blue Bombers lead in attendance, at “slightly less than 29,000 per game." The league's TV deal with TSN is set to expire in 2026 (TORONTO STAR, 11/19).
