FanDuel's Mike Raffensperger chuckles when others refer to the states that opened in the first couple of years after legalization began as “mature.”
Results from September are a reminder of why.
Though there’s still a little across-the-river ping pong being played in New York and New Jersey -- handle in the former was up 18% compared to last September; the latter was down 16% -- U.S. handle is tracking to be up 14% year-on-year in states that were open in September 2023.
Among those with double-digit gains were Class of 2019 graduates Indiana (20%), Pennsylvania (12%), Iowa (10%) and Oregon (23%) -- as well as Class of 2020 member Colorado (10%).
