CAA Managing Partner David O'Connor Leaving For MSG CEO Position

CAA Managing Partner DAVID O'CONNOR "is leaving the agency" to become CEO of MSG, according to Rebecca Sun of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. The two companies "have worked together closely ever since O’Connor helped launch" CAA Sports in '06. O’Connor’s hiring "caps off a three-month search to fill the CEO vacancy" created by TAD SMITH , who left in March to become President & CEO of N.Y.-based real estate agency Sotheby's ( HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.com, 6/22 ). DEADLINE.com's Hipes & Fleming noted the native New Yorker "helped shape the agency into the modern Hollywood superpower." No departure date "has been set" ( DEADLINE.com, 6/22 ). In N.Y., Morgan & Atkinson note O'Connor, who is currently based in CAA's L.A. office, "began his career" in the mail room in '83. He and his current partners "assumed their ownership and management positions" in '95 ( N.Y. POST, 6/23 ).
