The Pac-12 has signed a coronavirus testing agreement with healthcare provider Quidel Corporation. The company will supply its testing machines to the conference’s 12 member schools, allowing for the ability to perform daily coronavirus tests on student-athletes.
Each school is expected to receive its testing equipment by the end of this month. According to Yahoo Sports , test results are promised within 15 minutes. On Aug. 11, the Pac-12 announced it was postponing all of its fall sports competitions through at least Jan. 1 due to the pandemic.
“This access to daily, rapid result testing is simply game-changing. It’s a major step for the return of safe sports competition in the Pac-12,” the conference’s commissioner Larry Scott told Yahoo Sports.
