Out of 100 members of the IOC, these are the three Americans. Officially they serve as individuals, not country representatives, but they embody the clout of the world’s largest market and Olympic team in Olympic decision-making. The fifth-longest tenured member, DeFrantz serves on the critical executive board, while Randall, a gold medalist in cross-country skiing, was elected by her fellow athletes at the 2018 Olympics. Haggerty is one of the few Americans to lead an international sport federation.
