LA Kings The LA Kings cut the ceremonial ribbon on Aug. 26 at the opening of a new Kings-branded inline roller hockey rink in El Segundo, Calif. Among those representing the Kings were President and Hockey Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille, COO Kelly Cheeseman, former Kings/NHL forward Daryl Evans and mascot Bailey along with local youth hockey players and city officials.
chip murdock USA Today’s Christine Brennan, the 2020 winner of the Red Smith Award, and Los Angeles Time sports columnist Bill Plaschke participated in the general session at The Associated Press Sports Editors annual conference on Aug. 17 in Las Vegas. Brennan received her award, delayed a year because of the pandemic, at the conference along with 2021 award winner Sally Jenkins of The Washington Post.
