Rays SS Wander Franco’s future with the team "remains uncertain as he was shifted Tuesday to administrative leave indefinitely" by MLB while "multiple investigations continue into allegations of inappropriate relationships with one or more minors." Franco had been on the "restricted list for the past week," and the switch to the more formal administrative leave puts him "under league control." The Rays have "taken some subtle steps to distance themselves from Franco." A large Franco banner on the Tropicana Field rotunda has been "replaced by one of Yandy Diaz." It will be seen if his merchandise is "still available or displayed in the team store" for today's game against the Rockies (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 8/22).
Others signs of Franco are "disappearing" at Tropicana Field, including the elevator wrap which "is now [ Pete] Fairbanks." The sign at Ferg’s Sports Bar across the street is "also down." Franco "does still have a locker in clubhouse" (X.com, 8/22).
