WBD, Amazon in running for NASCAR package

Warner Bros. Discovery and Amazon are "competing to broadcast" a new package of NASCAR Cup races as the league looks to "boost its overall revenue" by bringing in additional media partners. The two companies, along with an unnamed third broadcaster are vying for a "package of between six and eight races" during the summer months. WBD, which previously aired NASCAR on TNT until 2015, is "interested in televising races that could fill a gap in its sports schedule" once the NBA season ends. Meanwhile, NASCAR's current broadcast partners, NBC and Fox, are "close to renewing their contracts." NBC and Fox currently pay about $820M a year "between them in deals that expire at the end of the 2024 season" (BLOOMBERG, 8/23).
