NHL, NHLPA working towards return to Olympics

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly today said that the league is working with the NHLPA to "create an international competition to be held in February 2025 with the intention of beginning a regular rotation of Olympic participation and a World Cup of Hockey in the even years to follow." The NHL last held a World Cup of Hockey in 2016 and did not participate in the 2018 Pyeongchang or 2022 Beijing Games. Daly said that there have been "no shortage of ideas being discussed" for the format of a World Cup of Hockey, but he does not "know exactly what form it will take" (NHL.com, 8/23).
