Swiss Olympic and Paralympic officials have "mounted a Winter Games bid focusing on 2030 with 2034 as an alternative option." The bid is being billed by officials as "the first nationwide games rather than centered around a specific city or region." Swiss officials are looking to "enter 'targeted dialogue' with the IOC" if the bid is approved by the country's sports parliament on Nov. 24. Swiss officials have also said that the games "can be privately funded and that there was 67 percent approval" for the bid in a survey. The IOC Executive Board is expected to "decide by the end of November on at least on possible bidder with which to engage in targeted dialogue" (NBCSPORTS.com, 10/19).
