Braves' Double-A club relocating to Columbus, Ga. in 2025

The Braves' Double-A affiliate -- the Mississippi Braves of the Southern League -- announced that 2024 “would be their final season” in the state before relocating to Columbus, Ga. in 2025, according to Justin Toscano of the ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION. The Double-A club is owned by Diamond Baseball Holdings. Starting in 2025, Braves’ four main affiliates -- Low-A Augusta, High-A Rome, Double-A Columbus and Triple-A Gwinnett -- all will be “within three hours of Truist Park” which should “at least simplify logistics for the big-league club” (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 1/9). In Jackson, Ross Reily noted the Mississippi Braves’ lease at the 8,480-seat Trustmark Park is up in 2024 and attendance at Trustmark Park in Pearl for games has “been disappointing at best.” Of 30 total Double-A teams, the Braves were 29th in attendance in 2023 with 2,545 fans per game (Mississippi CLARION-LEDGER, 1/9).
