Cardinals President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak "was audibly booed" when he was introduced to yesterday's sold-out crowd at Busch Stadium, as was team owner Bill DeWitt Jr. Manager Oli Marmol "heard from a few more," but Mozeliak "was booed big." The same morning, the longtime team official in charge of baseball operations "bristled a bit" when asked during a radio interview about fans' "increasingly negative view of the organization as one settling for less than it should." Mozeliak responded, "To say we are not trying to put a winning product out there I think is rather insulting to someone like myself." Yesterday's home opener "featured the usual pomp and circumstance," as the Clydesdales and redcoats "made their annual rounds." But "soft and fuzzy, this one was not" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 4/4).
