On Long Island, Neil Best noted MSG Networks named Tyler Murray as the new Knicks radio play-by-play voice, succeeding Ed Cohen. Murray, “primarily will work alongside” lead analyst Monica McNutt, with studio analysts Alan Hahn and Wally Szczerbiak filling in at times in that role. Murray currently is the play-by-play broadcaster for the Red Sox’s Triple-A team in Worcester (NEWSDAY, 9/12).
PARTING WAYS: In Toronto, Gilbert Ngabo reported another popular hockey broadcaster, Christine Simpson, is leaving Sportsnet. Simpson announced Wednesday via social media that her time with the national sports network has ended after more than 25 years, “without revealing why she’s leaving.” Simpson’s unexpected exit “comes just a few months after” Sportsnet parted ways with Jeff Marek. Neither Simpson nor Sportsnet have “offered any further details about her sudden departure,” a week before NHL training camps begin (TORONTO STAR, 9/12).
