Sanderson Farms Championship Tournament Dir Steve Jent said that he wants to use the PGA Tour event this week “to entertain anyone that might be interested in being the title sponsor,” according to Ross Reily of the Jackson CLARION-LEDGER. The Jackson-based event "will be its last" for Sanderson Farms, which decided last month to stop its deal as title sponsor, even though its contract runs through 2026. The company, however, will “remain as a major sponsor for the tournament.” Jent is “searching for a 2025 and beyond sponsor.” He said he feels “really good in general” for the event. He added, “The weather looks great. It's going to be a chamber of commerce type setting, for sure.” Mississippi has been a PGA stop since 1968 when the tournament was known as the Magnolia Classic and was played in Hattiesburg (Jackson CLARION-LEDGER, 9/27).
