Media Notes

Podcaster Alex Cooper, who partnered with Peacock for the Olympics, said everything she was saying “was run by them.” Cooper: “There were scripts and teleprompters, so they were giving me the green light. I’m not just going, ‘Let me talk about this crazy thing.’ Peacock told me, ‘We want you to be Alex Cooper. We don’t want you to just transform now into an NBC host.’ They were bringing me in to do my thing and bring my audience. [My content was] definitely more brand-safe [than usual], but I really respected them for understanding that” (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 10/16).

WHO YOU COME TO SEE: The AP’s Andrew Seligman noted some sports bars and restaurants say they are seeing “increased demand for women’s sports on their TVs.” Bar Louie CEO Brian Wright said you will see “small groups of women coming out to watch the actual sports.” He added, “And you see a lot of men requesting women’s sports now. So it’s kind of an entire paradigm shift of how women’s sports are being viewed” (AP, 10/15).
