THE ATHLETIC goes with, "Explained: FIFA and DAZN’s $1billion broadcast deal for the 2025 Club World Cup." FIFA last week announced a $1B broadcast deal with DAZN for next year’s Club World Cup, and the deal is an "intriguing one when it comes to trying to work out the company’s end-game." In DAZN's most recent set of published accounts (2022), they "announced operating losses" of $1B. DAZN noted that a "key part of their rationale for buying the rights is to grow their profile in the United States, while also hoping to grow in other emerging markets." One of the ways they will "look to claw back their investment is to insert advertising into their broadcasts."
