The state of Florida could host two outdoor NHL games during the 2025-26 season, with “one of them … being the Winter Classic.” Reports last month had the Panthers hosting a game at the Marlins’ loanDepot park, and Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman asked, “Why are the Lightning so quiet about an outdoor game going to Florida? I think it’s because they could be getting one too.” Friedman assumes the game in Tampa would be at Raymond James Stadium, though he noted NFL venues “can be a much bigger challenge around the Winter Classic depending on what the schedule is going to be.” The Panthers and Lightning would not play each other, as “there are going to be other teams involved” (“32 Thoughts,” SPORTSNET.ca, 1/3).
