Entergy New Orleans are "confident" the blackout that halted Super Bowl XLVII"won't happen again" after key upgrades have been made to the infrastructure of the Caesars Superdome, according to Sam Karlin of the New Orleans TIMES-PICAYUNE. Entergy New Orleans Dir of Metro Reliability Shelton Hudson mentioned that the utility has “replaced the equipment that caused the outage,” and the Superdome has “replaced the metal halide lights with LED lights that don’t take as long to turn back on.” Entergy has also been testing the three feeders into the Superdome and did a “tabletop exercise” during the recent trio of Taylor Swift Eras tour concerts. The utility also has two substations that are able to feed the Superdome, “providing a backup if one goes out.” Hudson added that the company will have “people standing by in a mobile command center monitoring the Super Bowl” (New Orleans TIMES-PICAYUNE, 1/27).
