Former Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and his wife Crissy Haslam have "submitted a bid" for a WNBA expansion team in Nashville. Former Tennessee athletes Candace Parker and Peyton Manning, as well as musicians Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, have "joined the ownership group." The team would be "called the Tennessee Summitt," a name paying "homage" to former women's basketball coach Pat Summitt, and "would not start until the 2028 season." The team would "play their home games at Bridgestone Arena," home of the Nashville Predators. There were no official colors announced, but the "idea of Summitt blue as the dominant color was hinted at. Perhaps with a little bit of gold." Bill Haslam is an owner of the Double-A Knoxville Smokies and is the brother of Browns owner Jimmy Haslam (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 1/30).
