Bayou Bash: Festivities pick up ahead of Super Bowl Weekend

As Super Bowl week unfolds, New Orleans is buzzing with a variety of events from all corners. Here is a glimpse of the numerous activities happening this weekend leading up to the big game.

THURSDAY

The Super Bowl LIX Fan Experience will be at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (New Orleans ADVOCATE, 2/4).

New Orleans Mayor LATOYA CANTRELL, MASTER P, Saints RB ALVIN KAMARA, and LARRY MORROW will host an “epic party and tribute” to New Orleans at Empire (New Orleans ADVOCATE, 1/31).

The Art of Whiskey Tasting Event will be hosted at M.S. Rau and feature whiskey and cigar tastings. Guests attending includes former NFLers T.J. WARD and ERIC METCALF, Saints WR BUB MEANS, Raiders RB DYLAN LAUBE, Raiders WR KRISTIAN WILKERSON and Raiders CB NATE HOBBS (New Orleans ADVOCATE, 1/31).

DR. DRE and SNOOP DOGG will host an R&B and hip-hop throwback party at the NOPSI Hotel with music by DJ ANTWIGADEE (New Orleans ADVOCATE, 1/31).

Ohm Lounge will host the “Playmaker’s Party” which will feature Pro Football HOFer MICHAEL IRVIN, DR. ROMANCE and KAEYD (New Orleans ADVOCATE, 1/31).

Dove is hosting a Pep Rally at the Sports Illustrated House bringing together Body Confident Collective members BILLIE JEAN KING, Liberty G SABRINA IONESCU, WNFC founder & CEO ODESSA JENKINS and Gold Medal-winning U.S. long jumper TARA DAVIS-WOODHALL for an exclusive celebration. The event is closed to the public (Edelman).

The JOHNNIE L. COCHRAN, JR. Salute to Excellence luncheon will be at the Hyatt Regency. NFL EVP & Chief Administrative Officer DASHA SMITH, MICHELE MEYER-SHIPP, NBC’s MARIA TAYLOR and Buccaneers co-owner DARCIE GLAZER KASSEWITZ will share their journeys of leadership and talk about the growing influence of women in professional sports. NFL EVP & General Counsel JEFF PASH will be the recipient of the Dan Rooney Lifetime Achievement Award (Fritz Pollard).

Country artist CHRIS STAPLETON will headline the Super Bowl weekend kick-off party at the Fillmore. The event is open to SiriusXM subscribers and Pandora listeners (New Orleans ADVOCATE, 1/31).

Pro Football HOFer BRIAN URLACHER and former NFLer RON JAWORSKI will host a VIP cigar party at the Generations Hall which will benefit the charities Jaws Youth Playbook and Gridiron Greats (New Orleans ADVOCATE, 1/31).

Play Make Her co-founder CARMEN GREEN-WILSON and Bears offensive assistant JENNIFER KING will be honored during the “A Toast to Black Sports” event (Belle Agency).

The Oakley Icon Outpost will be open to the public on Magazine Street and will feature Team Oakley athletes and a VR experience (M&C Saatchi).

Celebrity Sweat will host the 25th annual Celebrity Flag Football game at Edna Karr High School. The event will feature athletes and celebrities along with first responders and military service members from across Louisiana as special guests. Basketball HOFer TRACY MCGRADY’s team will take on former NFLer ROBERT GRIFFIN III‘s team. Others participating include former NFLer DEZ BRYANT, NFL free agent ODELL BECKHAM JR., artist NLE CHOPPA and streamer DUKE DENNIS (Celebrity Sweat).
