Stephen Curry’s media company to produce cheer team docuseries

Warriors G Stephen Curry is teaming up with Comcast to “tell the true story of the underdog cheer team that made history” in a docuseries titled, “Spirit,” according to Matt Minton of VARIETY. Curry and Unanimous Media co-founder, co-CEO & Chief Creative Officer Erick Peyton are executive producing the series through Unanimous Media in partnership with The WorkShop Content Studios and FreshFly. The four-part series follows the George Washington High School team that “became the first cheer squad from Philadelphia’s school district to make it all the way to the NCA High School Nationals.” The series is directed by Matt Howley, who is a Philadelphia native. “Spirit” will be available to stream Feb. 27 on Comcast’s Black Experience on Xfinity (VARIETY, 2/11).
