Arizona Cardinals owner MICHAEL BIDWILL has been in the news recently “with competing headlines” of being elected to the Arizona Sports HOF and being sued and accused of “unmercifully” harassing his former assistant, according to Greg Moore of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. Bidwill said, “Allegations can be made, and they get a lot of attention. But they’re just that: They’re allegations. We strongly deny them. We will strongly defend ourselves against them. And we believe that when the process is complete, the facts will reveal that reality. And the reality is completely different than what’s alleged.” The latest lawsuit against Bidwill is not the first to “accuse him of bad behavior,” as former team exec TERRY MCDONOUGH filed a civil lawsuit against the owner for “defamation, negligence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.” And while that suit “was dismissed,” a number of employees have also described a poor workplace culture under Bidwill in the past. Moore noted Bidwill has “always been pleasant.” Moore: “Maybe he’s a big phony, but he’s never triggered my you-know-what detector.” On his HOF induction, Bidwill said, “It’s a very special moment. ... So many great Cardinals who’ve done great things with their teammates. It’s really an honor, and I accept it on behalf of all of the people in the organization and the community” (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 2/19).
