Warriors G Stephen Curry’s business conglomerate Thirty Ink announced plans to “move its headquarters from the South of Market (SoMa) neighborhood to Dogpatch” in S.F., according to Danny Emerman of the San Jose MERCURY NEWS. The move calls for the “demolition of a two-story commercial building” constructed in 1972 to “make room” for the company’s five-story, 24,691 square foot development at 600 20th St. The new office will “house Curry’s eight businesses and 13 entities.” Dogpatch is “one of several neighborhoods in San Francisco that’s quickly evolving.” An extension of Mission Bay, home of Chase Center, Dogpatch is “undergoing a transformation centered around Pier 70, a developing 28-acre mixed-use project” (San Jose MERCURY NEWS, 3/6).

HOW IT ALIGNS: Thirty Ink COO Tiffany Williams said that the company “previously had offices in Oakland and San Mateo but was attracted to Dogpatch for its historic character, and proximity to Chase Center and other businesses that collaborate with Curry’s organization.” She added that “future announcements will flesh out plans for the ground floor.” In S.F., J.K. Dineen noted the project was approved last April. Construction will “take about 18 months once the building permits are obtained.” Williams called the current structure, which will be demolished, “a blank slate with four walls and in some cases maybe not even that.” Oakland firm Workshop1 is the project architect, and San Francisco architecture firm OTJ is doing the interior design. Dineen noted about 40% of the construction workforce will be union, and the trades that are not union will be “paid prevailing wage” (S.F. CHRONICLE, 3/6).
