The Univ. of Florida athletic department topped $200M in operating revenues during FY 2024, but “spent nearly as much,” according to Kevin Brockway of the GAINESVILLE SUN. UF generated $200,094,587 compared to $189,142,176 in 2023, accounting for a $5.8% increase. The boost “was fan-driven,” as ticket sales increased and there was an “increase in novelty, program, parking and concessions revenues.” UF football was “once again the main revenue-driver” for the athletic department, generating $100,796,971, followed by men’s basketball ($14,344,967) and baseball ($4,328,038). In women’s sports, three UF programs “generated more than” $1M in revenue -- volleyball ($1,248,184), softball ($1,146,598) and gymnastics ($1,053,427). UF reported $179,243,138 in total operating expenses in FY ’24. The school’s positive net revenue to expenses of $20.8M for FY ’24 includes $8.4M in capital gift contributions utilized for capital projects, unrealized investment gains of $5.3M and $7.5M in capital debt expense, which means UF’s athletic department “essentially broke even” (GAINESVILLE SUN, 4/15).
