Early attendance numbers for the Mets are already “living up” to owner Steve Cohen’s hopes for this season, according to David Lennon of NEWSDAY. Heading into yesterday, the Mets ranked seventh in average attendance (36,705). Last year, the Mets were 17th in attendance (29,484). The fact that Citi Field “already is outpacing those figures by a whopping 20%” -- during a “frigid April while kids are still in school -- speaks volumes about where the ’25 Mets are in relation to their sky-high expectations” (NEWSDAY, 4/21).

DOUBLE TAKE: Mets President of Baseball Operations David Stearns said that he receives previews of tickets sold ahead of a homestand and “did ‘double takes’ at some of the numbers” that were presented to him, “especially for April.” Stearns said, “Not only have the numbers been good on paper, but it has felt like that in the ballpark and it’s been exciting.” He added, “Our players have talked about it. I think we all feel it when we’re here” (N.Y. POST, 4/22).
