Work is “officially starting on long-promised apartments” next to the Crew’s home at Lower.com Field, according to Jim Weiker of the COLUMBUS DISPATCH. The apartments are the “latest phase” of Astor Park, the 15-acre development around the stadium that includes a “five-story office building and a 685-space parking garage.” A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday for the 261-unit apartment building, the “first of two residential buildings planned for the site that are expected to total 440 apartments.” The apartment complex is “expected to open in 2027.” The Pizzuti Companies is developing Astor Park in a partnership with Crew owners the Edwards family and Haslam Sports Group. Pizzuti Companies President & CEO Joel Pizzuti announced that “Pickle Park and Pub would occupy the 17,250 square feet of ground-floor retail space in Astor Park’s office building.” Weiker noted the venue will include “five indoor pickleball courts, one outdoor court, golf simulators, a pickleball store and a restaurant and bar” (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 4/23).
