Bengals QB Joe Burrow has “effectively entrusted aspects of both his privacy and his image” in participating in season two of Netflix’s “Quarterback,” according to Pat Brennan of the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER. Lions QB Jared Goff and Falcons QB Kirk Cousins will join Burrow on the new season that “will air in July.” The show is made by NFL Films and Omaha Productions, and “partly produced” by Pro Football HOFer Peyton Manning. Burrow said, “a big part” of him joining season two “was Peyton being a involved in it, too.” Burrow: “I have a lot of respect for him obviously. … I’m not going to say ‘no.’” Cameras “documented Burrow’s 2024 NFL season” for season two. Burrow said if not for Manning’s involvement, he “probably wouldn’t have done it.” Burrow: ”But I have a lot of trust and faith in him to not do anything that would hurt me or the team.” Bengals coach Zac Taylor said that it “was hard to distinguish” between the added media presence for “Quarterbacks” because HBO’s “Hard Knocks: In-Season with the AFC North” also followed the team last year. He said, though, that there “was no intrusion on the team side,” adding that he “was supportive” of Burrow doing the docuseries (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 5/21).

BRINGING TO LIGHT: USA TODAY’s Scooby Axson wrote Netflix’s “Untold: The Fall of Favre” premiered yesterday and it “serves its purpose.” The docuseries centered on Pro Football HOFer Brett Favre is “filled with good storytelling from the talking heads who appeared in the film, mostly from sportswriters.” There is not “much of anything new or earthshattering here,” and because it “was no shock that Favre is a non-participant in the documentary, you won’t see anything that resembles contrition for Favre’s well-documented misdeeds.” His apologists “will undoubtedly look at the film as a glorified hit piece” (USA TODAY, 5/20).
