The Browns said that the “ball is in Mayor Justin Bibb‘s court when it comes to discussions of whether or how much the team may contribute" for Cleveland lakefront development, “including demolition of the existing stadium." The team did not offer specifics for how much money could be involved. Browns spokesperson Peter John-Batiste said the team has “had direct discussions” with Bibb and his administration “regarding our willingness to assist with the demolition of the current stadium after our lease expires in early 2029″ (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 7/16).
