Bill Before California Legislature Would Ban Tobacco At Ballparks

Under a bill scheduled to be introduced in the California state legislature today, MLB players "would be banned from using chewing tobacco at games in California." The measure is the "first in a nationwide campaign planned by anti-tobacco activists." It would ban "use of all tobacco products at baseball stadiums in the state, including dipping, chewing, smoking or using electronic or e-cigarettes." It would also require ballparks to "post signs announcing the ban" ( REUTERS, 2/24 ).
