NBC Sports To Televise Games From Rabil's Lacrosse League

NBC Sports has agreed to "televise the games" of the Premier Lacrosse League, the new organization headed up by Paul Rabil . All PLL games "will be televised live by NBC Sports, either on broadcast, cable, digital or direct-to-consumer platforms," with 17 games on NBCSN and two on the flagship network. The league will begin play June 1 and "have its championship weekend on Sept. 21," using a "touring model approach to bring" its product to new markets. It will "start with six teams of 20 players that will compete each weekend in a different city" ( BROADCASTINGCABLE.com, 10/22 ).

Raine Group has led the league's funding, and the list of investors "features a dozen former college players," including Patriots WR Chris Hogan . Other backers include the Chernin Group, CAA, Blum Capital, Fortress Investment Group, plus a "handful of family offices and angel investors" ( BLOOMBERG NEWS, 10/22 ).

Because California has the people, the cities, the sports teams, the sports fans, the incredible infrastructure, the hotels and the ability to continue to invest in all these things as the fourth-largest economy in the world.
-- California Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis, on the reasons why California has and should continue to host large-scale sporting events.
