Pennsylvania Body Approves Three Casinos For Sports Betting

Pennsylvania regulators today approved three more casinos in the state to "run sports-wagering operations." Philadelphia's SugarHouse Casino, one of the approved venues, said that it "plans to begin taking bets on Dec. 1." Rivers Casino, which like SugarHouse is owned by Rush Street Gaming, said that it "planned to launch by Dec. 1" as well. The state's Gaming Control Board also "approved sports-betting licenses" for Harrah's Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack, which "did not specify a start date." Only "five of the state's 13 casino license holders have applied for sports betting licenses" ( PHILLY.com, 10/31 ).

Also today, the William Hill-owned Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course "received its conditional license to do business in Pennsylvania." Casino officials said that they are "targeting 'mid-to-late November' for opening" ( PENNLIVE.com, 10/31 ).

Quote of the Day
It's going to be the model -- once we accomplish it -- that all these schools that have 100-year-old stadiums are going to come look at and try to figure out how we did it, because I think it's going to be really impactful and it's something Gators are going to feel really good about for a long time.
