SEC Reveals Testing, Other Safety Protocol For Fall Sports

The SEC on Friday unveiled details of its medical protocols for fall sports, with football, volleyball and soccer players to be "tested for COVID-19 at least twice a week." Also, games "could be canceled or postponed if virus outbreaks in the local community are considered exceptionally high." The SEC "will centralize testing through a third-party provider," using PCR testing initially. Each institution must designate a COVID-19 “protocol oversight officer.” Athletes who opt out of fall sports "will continue to have their scholarships honored" (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 8/7).
