The Univ. of Michigan athletic department will "ask the Board of Regents for permission on Thursday to move forward" with a $41M project to replace its football stadium video boards. Michigan wants to replace the displays, installed in '11, and “select components” of the PA and video production equipment. The new scoreboards "will be the same height -- 62 feet -- and wider than the 108 feet they currently take up." Michigan said the cost will be paid for “from athletic department resources,” but it is asking for "university assistance through bond proceeds and money from the general fund." If approved, Michigan says the new scoreboards would be up and running for the fall of '23 (MLIVE.com, 3/21).
