The Univ. of Akron has a "new primary logo," with the newly revealed stylized "A" a "departure from the 'Z' the team has used predominantly in recent years." The "A" logo, designed by Joe Bosack & Co., "incorporates a 'Z' inside it." The redesign process "took eight months" and included "feedback from the UA community." The logo change "goes into effect immediately," and new gear is "expected to be ready for the fall semester." The Zips name and the school's kangaroo mascot Zippy "will continue to represent the school and its sports teams" (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 5/9).
