American Express has tapped Venus Williams to star in four ads to appear on the company’s YouTube page during the U.S. Open, which starts Monday. Williams and AmEx also will push the ads out through their social media channels. The ads, dubbed “Open Like a Pro,” feature Williams preparing for her day. In a yoga pose in one, her breathing is so heavy it nearly moves the blades of a nearby fan. Another opens with sound of balls being hit and Williams’ head going back and forth, but a wider camera angle shows her choosing which dress to wear. Digitas is the agency of record for the ads. AmEx, which is entering its 23rd year as a U.S. Open sponsor, is also working with Taylor Fritz, Pete Sampras and Monica Seles for this year’s Open. The trio will appear in ads on the No. 7 subway line, and Sampras and Seles will also appear as holograms in an activation onsite.
