Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment Sues MiLB Teams Over Profit Losses

Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment is suing the Single-A Florida State League Daytona Tortugas and two other affiliated minor league baseball teams for "loss of profits, in excess of $75,000," according to documents cited by Godwin Kelly of the Daytona Beach NEWS-JOURNAL. VWSE has named the Tortugas, fellow Florida State League member Florida Fire Frogs and the Single-A South Atlantic League Kannapolis Intimidators in the suit. The Tortugas and VWSE "entered into a contract with the three teams" in September '16 to "provide marketing services, including the sale of sponsorships, branding, marketing and advertising." However, VWSE argues that the three teams "failed to pay the compensation earned and owed" and "fraudulently failed to report the Gross Revenues collected." With each team named in the suit, VWSE is "asking for 'damages including loss of profits, in excess of $75,000,' plus attorneys' fees and court costs" ( Daytona Beach NEWS-JOURNAL, 9/20 ).
