Brewers President of Business Operations Rick Schlesinger during the pandemic has been "working remotely," directing his staff as they "model dozens of scenarios for a baseball season that has no start date or any set details on where or how many games are going to be played," according to Mark Kass of the MILWAUKEE BUSINESS JOURNAL. Schlesinger also is "focused on what he and many other executives in the service industry are trying to figure out -- how long will it take for customers to feel comfortable again in large crowds and what steps are necessary to make them want to come back to a game or concert at Miller Park?" Schlesinger said of how the Brewers are preparing for the season to start, "We're running dozens of different scenarios to see what we would have to do in order to make them work. We don't have any solid information. ... It's one thing to talk about how to start playing baseball again in Milwaukee, but MLB has to figure it out for the entire country. There is no way to forecast just one scenario." Schlesinger also said it "really has been gratifying in terms of the reaction from our sponsor base," as almost without exception, they have been "very supportive." Schlesinger also noted the Brewers have "not had to furlough any staff yet." Schlesinger: "We want to maintain our full-time staff as long as we can" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 4/16).
