Georgia State Looking For Naming-Rights Sponsor For New Arena

Georgia State plans to break ground on its $85M convocation center this week and "expects to have the project completed by next August," but GSU and multimedia partner Van Wagner Sports and Entertainment still are "looking for a naming-rights sponsor" for the multi-purpose venue that will house the school's basketball teams starting in '22, according to Eric Jackson of the ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE. Van Wagner, which works with a number of pro and college teams, brokered the $21M agreement for GSU’s "recent naming rights deal for Center Parc Stadium," home to the school's football team. Asked if the naming rights deal for the convocation center would be of slightly lesser value because of its smaller footprint, GSU AD Charlie Cobb said that he "didn’t think so, pointing to the fact that the center will host more events between GSU basketball games, student and community events" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 11/16).
