Chicago Fire FC will provide gambling awareness education to athletes on its MLS club and youth academy teams. The sessions will be delivered in partnership with Epic Risk Management, a consultancy for reducing gambling harm, and Entain Foundation U.S., a non-profit that supports betting responsibility and integrity.
Beginning in May, Epic Risk Management will run age-tailored programs for the Chicago Fire first team and the club’s youth academy teams. The sessions will take place online due to COVID-19 before eventually transitioning to an in-person format.
“We know that young athletes are at greater risk of being affected by problematic gaming and gambling, and we recognize the need to take a proactive approach to educating our players and parents on these risks,” said Brian Roberts, director of the Chicago Fire’s PASS program.
Epic Risk Management and Entain have previously collaborated to provide sports gambling education to athletes at 40 U.S. colleges .
