SmartSpring Shoe Insoles Could Reduce Athlete Injuries

Sports Engineering, Inc. announced that its SmartSpring technology has reached the market; the company has already partnered with several well known shoe manufacturers.  

SmartSpring insoles use circular springs made of flexible polymer that can absorb excessive force to mitigate potential injuries. Worcester Polytechnic Institute professor Chris Brown invented the patented technology, which is undergoing research projects with the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

SEI noted that it cannot disclose the shoe companies it is working with, citing non-disclosure agreements, but said that athletic footwear in under development.
